Gustavo joined the Huntsman Program in 2000 after graduating high-school at St. Clare's College in the United Kingdom, where he lived for three years. Originally from Brazil, he chose Spanish as his target language, seeking more in depth language skills and cultural insight on the vast part of Latin America where his native Portuguese is not spoken. When looking at colleges, he saw in Huntsman an opportunity to combine Wharton's premier business education with the strong liberal arts background and diversity of options offered by the School of Arts & Sciences. He was also drawn to the challenges of the curriculum, and valued the strong support network and close community that provided guidance along the way. He gained near-native fluency in Spanish, and during his stay at Penn Gustavo studied abroad both in Mexico and in Spain. He graduated with a concentration in Management and Finance, and a minor in Spanish.
After graduating from the Huntsman Program, he joined the Monitor Group consulting firm in New York, where he worked in a variety of industries. In recent years, he has chosen to focus specifically on the Life Sciences and Pharmaceuticals industries. His work deals with marketing strategy, helping clients better understand their customers and improve the positioning or co-positioning of their products and portfolios. After four years in the New York office, Gustavo is now based in London, serving clients in Germany and France.
